Australian born Morrison is renowned as an author, overlander and doctor, and highly respected in political circles for his knowledge of China. As an eminently eligible man in his forties, it is high time he married and when he meets Mae Perkins, he is instantly smitten. But does Mae feels the same way? Meanwhile war has broken out, between Japan and Russia in northern China - a war dubbed 'Morrison's war' because of his lobbying for it.
